"The Misora Hibari Story" is a made-for-television movie with English subtitles. It tells
her story from her birth in 1937, through the war years and on into the post-war era,
when she became Japan's biggest female star. To this day, Misora Hibari is still
considered the top female entertainer in Japanese history, and wins popularity
contests held by radio stations and newspapers regularly.
While this is not a
documentary (Hibari is, in fact, seen in the opening moments on stage singing), it
relates her life-story right from the earliest beginnings and on through her greatest
successes.
