GASSOH (JOINT BURIAL)
A TALE OF THE SHOGITAI

Director: KOBAYASHI Tatsuo
Cast: YAGIRA Yuya, SETO Koji, OKUYAMA Amane, Joe ODAGIRI

Rising above the tradition of live action movies based on manga, Gassoh (Group Burial) tells the story of three samurai friends who join the ”Shogitai” (League to Demonstrate Righteousness), hoping to die honorable deaths in support of the former Tokugawa shogunate. With the feel of a real historical drama this brilliant work by filmmaker Kobayashi Tatsuo captures the essence of Japan’s turmoil during the final days of resistance to the dawning of the Meiji era. Unlike other recent manga to live-action movies, this motion picture brings the real samurai era’s demise to the silver screen with a totally believable story and realistic action. Superb beyond a doubt. Premiered at Montreal’s World Film Festival.

2015 Color DIGITAL ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN (16:9) 87 Mins.
