SHINSENGUMI - Band of Assassins - REMASTERED
Starring: TOSHIRO MIFUNE, KINYA KITAOJI, RENTARO MIKUNE
The Shinsengumi were a para-military police force that protected the Shogun during the Bakumatsu Period (1853-1867). This is the complete story of that group of brutal assassins, who in effect saved Japan when they had to keep so-called Loyalist Samurai from burning down Kyoto and kidnapping the Emporer.
Toshiro Mifune not only stars as Kondo Isami, the group's noble leader and one of the greatest swordsmen of his time, but he also produced this film as well. One of the most historically accurate versions of their story, with some of the most brutal and realistic sword fighting ever filmed. This is a tribute to those who gave their lives to the Shogun.
